Rep. Mensah Condemns Public Exploitation of Girl in Picture with Yekeh

Capitol-April 9,2024: Bong County District 6 Representative and Chair of the House’s Committee on Gender Children and Social Protection, Moima Briggs Mensah has voiced strong condemnation against the exploitation of a young girl’s image spreading on social media with misinterpretation.

The photos recently posted on social media include the young school girl and Representative Yekeh Kolubah of Montserrado County District 10.

Addressing members of the press, Representative Mensah expressed deep concern over the viral photo featuring a little girl in uniform alongside Rep. Yekeh Kolubah, describing it as disheartening and regrettable.

During the press conference, Representative Mensah emphasized the emotional trauma inflicted upon the young girl due to the circulation of the photos and urged the public to refrain from such acts. She called out individuals, including a radio personality, who justified the circulation of the image, demanding an apology within three days for the distress caused to the girl.

As Chair of the Gender Committee, Representative Mensah pledged to pursue justice for the young girl and ensure accountability for those involved in the exploitation and insults against women. She underscored the importance of ending such disrespectful behavior and vowed to follow through with the necessary actions to address these issues.

Representative Moima Briggs Mensah’s firm stance against the exploitation of minors and insults towards women highlights the imperative for respectful conduct in both public and social media spheres.

However, Representative Mensah addressed the disrespectful behavior of her colleague (Yekeh Kolubah) towards Madam Katumu Boakai, the wife of President Joseph Boakai, characterizing it as frustrating and disappointing. She highlighted the need for respectful conduct, especially towards peaceful figures like Madam Boakai, and urged him to issue an apology for his actions.
