Liberian Senate Confirms Dr. Jarso, Bill Jones, Amin Modad, Others

Liberia-February 6,2024: The Plenary of the Liberian Senate on today unanimously confirmed couple of Presidential nominees. The confirmation affects Ministry of Education, Finance and Development Planning, Agriculture, Liberia National Police, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency and the Executive Protection Service.

Those confirmed are: Dr. Jarso Jallah, Minister of Education, Mr. Bill McGill Jones, Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Abraham S Kromah, Director Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency and Gregory Coleman, Inspector General Liberia National Police.

Others are: Sam Gaye, Director Executive Protection Service, Dr. Alexander Nuetah, Minister of Agriculture, Elwood Nelly , Comptroller and Accounting General at the Ministry of Finance, Anthony G Myers, Deputy Minister for Fiscal Affairs at Ministry of Finance.

Additionally, Amin Modad, Minister of Commerce, Dehpue Y Zuo , Deputy Minister for Economic Management and Planning at Ministry of Finance and Tanneh G. Brunson, Deputy Minister for Budget and Development Planning, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.

The Presidential nominees were confirmed following series of hearing conducted by various committee during the week.
These committees include: the Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget Chaired by Senator Prince Kermue Moye of Bong County, the Committee on Education and Pubic Administration Chaired by Senator Nathaniel McGill of Margibi, Committee on Defense, Security, Intelligence and Veteran Affairs headed by Senator Momo Cyrus of Lofa and Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries headed by Senator Wellington Gevon Smith.

The committees report which were unanimously done through the Senate Secretary Nanborlor Singbeh told Plenary that based on the confirmation hearing and other vetting procedures done, the nominees are equally qualify to serve the various positions nominated for.

โ€œThe committees have vetted the nominees designated, and want to inform this body that the witnesses are qualified for the position nominated forโ€

Meanwhile, the President of the Senate Hon. Jeremiah Kpan Koung has mandated the Secretary of the Liberian Senate to communicate the body decision to President Joseph Boakai for onward execution.
