“INITIATE LOCKDOWN TO ENSURE THOROUGH CONTACT TRACING”

LIBERIA-June 21, 2021, WTVNEWS: The Liberia Medical and Dental Association has called on the government of Liberia to implement a nationwide lockdown in order to initiate massive contact tracing something the group said will greatly help to curb the coronavirus.

The Secretary-General of LMDA, Dr. Boesay Zeyah said Liberia is one of the countries in the sub-region reporting the highest number of Covid-19 cases. He said if nothing is done to address the fast-growing wave of cases the health sector will get overwhelmed.

The Liberia Medical and Dental Association is calling on the public, especially well-meaning Liberians to begin mobilizing resources to help health facilities to respond to COVID-19 rapidly

Dr. Seyah named oxygen cylinders, delivery apparatus among others a huge challenge at health facilities thereby hampering the abilities of Doctors to provide adequate care to COVID-19 patients.
Dr. Zeyah wants the Government to immediately seek help from all sources to invest in the health sector of the country saying “ Responding to COVID-19 is very expensive.”

The LMDA further encouraged the public to continue to adhere to health protocols put in place by the Ministry of Health and consider incorporating the Liberia Medical and Dental Association and professional groups.

“Death is increasing and if we should win, we need to rally all resources to fight this virus, we recommend that all cases including ill symptomatic cases be isolated from all communities, Patients are presenting themselves at health facilities very late especially when nothing much can be done again, We encouraged people to present themselves as early as possible. It’s time that we as Liberians put together to fight against this disease,
