Woman, 36, Charged With Murder for Allegedly Burying Her two-day-old Baby Alive

May 15, 2023, Gbarnga, Bong County– Police in Gbarnga, Bong County has charged with murder and forwarded a 36-year-old woman identified as Lorpu Kesselle to the 9th Judicial Circuit Court for allegedly burying her 2-day-old child alive.

It can be recalled that on May 6, 2023, the lifeless body of the two-day-old baby was discovered by residents of the Sugar Hill Community buried in a nearby swamp.

Upon the discovery of the corpse, the child was rushed to the C.B. Dunbar Hospital in Gbarnga for medical check-up but was later pronounced dead on arrival by health workers.

The commander of the Liberia National Police in Bong County, Fasu Sheriff explained that during the Police Preliminary investigation, suspect Lorpu Kesselee, the mother of the dead baby voluntarily admitted to the commission of the crime.

Meanwhile, suspect Kesselee told Police investigators that her decision was based on the alleged denial of the pregnancy by her boyfriend whose name she refused to disclose.

“I didnโ€™t want this baby because the pregnancy was denied by my boyfriend.” Lorpu Kesselee added.

An investigation by WOMEN’S TV-LIBERIA has so far gathered that a forensic medical examination revealed that the mother had a full-term pregnancy and the baby was alive after being delivered.

Meanwhile, suspect Lorpu Kesselee has since been Charged with the crime of murder and forwarded to the ninth judicial Circuit Court for trial.
