Sinkor-July 28, 2023: The Vice Standard Bearer of the Unity Party, Senator Jeremiah Koung is rallying the National Elections Commission (NEC) to release results (votes) gathered from the October 10, 2023 presidential and legislative elections per the number of electoral districts in the country.

Speaking during the opening of the Unity Party’s rescue centre in Sinkor over the weekend, the UP Vice Standard Bearer narrated that October 10, 2023, presidential and legislative elections are critical to the rebuilding process of Liberia; hence, NEC must erect the necessary checks for a free, fair and credible election.

“All we need to do is to mind our ballot, that’s why the rescue alliance through Amb. Boakia has instructed the Chairman of the Unity Party and all other party chairs to write NEC and to inform our International partners that this election we want the result to be announced by electoral districts”, he added.

โ€œWe donโ€™t want no 3,000 votes to be checked and somebody to gets 13%, no we don’t want that. If we get 800 plus representative candidates and the National Elections Commission can name all of them, there are 20 presidential candidates so it will not be difficult for NEC”, the UP Vice presidential candidate stressed.

He at the same time disclosed that the Unity Party has written the NEC about the matter but it is yet to receive any answer.

UP Vice Standard Bearer Koung furthered that the releasing of votes gathered by presidential candidates from each electoral district in the 15 counties will help promote an election that is free from irregularities and to avoid conflict of interest.

The Unity Party running mate however believes that his party will win the October 10 elections when the election results are released per the 72 electoral districts across in Liberia.

“We have written NEC, and we are waiting for their response. We will take nothing from them than announcing the election results by electoral district. By that, we will defeat President Weah by more than 55% votesโ€.

He at the same time noted that the country is in its worst state under the George Weah-led government, therefore the CDC-led government can not reclaim power when the election is free, fair and credible.

“The only option left for the CDC is to cheat. That’s the only option that the CDC get to win this election. They are in disarray, so we must mind our ballot”, he said.

The UP executive also frowned on the result gathered from the recent elections in Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

He stressed that African leaders are cable of doing anything to the detriment of the original people just to remain in key governmental positions.

International elections observers of the European Union, Unity States, United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Gemany on Wednesday 28, 2023 questioned the transparency of the recent election in Sierra Leone highlighting statistical inconsistencies.

Meanwhile, Unity Party has announced Wilmot Paye as its senatorial Candidate for Montserrado County.

Making the announcement Unity Party Montserrado County Campaign Manager Senator Abraham Dillion said the UP’s decision was triggered by the unwavering love that Wilmot Paye has for the country and its people.

He at the same time rallied supporters of the Unity Party to ensure that Wilmot Paye is elected as senator of Montserrado County in the October 10 elections.

“As campaign chair for Montserrado County, I have been authorized by Joseph Boakia to present to you our senatorial candidate for Montserrado County Mr Wilmot Paye.

“Everyone voting in Montserrado County for Joseph Boakai must vote for Wilmot Paye”, he added.

For his part, the former Unity Part Chairman Paye lauded Amb. Boakai and the entire leadership of UP for choosing him to contest as senator on the party ticket in Montserrado County.

He vowed to defeat incumbent senator Saah Joseph in the October 10 polls.

“I am very grateful to the Leadership of the Unity Party and our dear supporters for making me your candidate for Montserrado County. I promise to defeat corrupt Saah Joseph in this election”, he noted.
