Police Arrest 29yrs Old MAN for Allegedly Raping 3yrs Old Child

Nimba County-November 6, 2020-WTVNEWS: Makaya Kannay, age 29, has been arrested and forwarded to the 8th Judicial Circuit Court in Sanniquellie for allegedly raping a three (3) year old girl in Dulin Town, Buyao Administrative District.
Buyao is situated in Electoral District #5 Lower Nimba County.
According to reports, Suspect Makaya committed the act on early Tuesday morning November 2, 2020.
Medical reports from the G.W.H. Hospital in Sanniquellie indicate that the Survivor was tempered with and is currently undergoing severe medical attention due to the injury sustained.
Meanwhile, a 40-year-old man has been arrested and forwarded to court for allegedly raping to death a 17-year-old girl in Saclepea, Nimba County.
Reports reveal that while transporting the survivor to Ganta for medical treatment, she passed out along the road.
Since Rape was declared a National Emergency, there seems to be a rise in the number of cases reported across the country, as there have been additional budgetary allotments to tackle Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
The Ministry of Gender Statistics from January to August reveal that a total of more than 1,000cases have been reported. Statutory Rape is a first degree felony under the laws of Liberia and it is non-bailable offense.
