Internews TRAINS 20 JOURNALISTS ON ELECTIONS REPORTING

Liberia-October 26, 2020-WTVNEWS: The Liberia Media Development Program, a USAID project Managed by Internews has begun a six-day Journalism Fellowship Training and Election Hackathon for over twenty (20) Liberian Journalists across Liberia.

The training is intended to help journalists produce High-quality stories and the needed tools to report on the December 8, 2020 Special Senatorial Elections.

Speaking at the opening of the training in Monrovia, Internews Chief of Party Madam Lien Bach stated that the December 8, 2020, Special Senatorial Election, referendum is critical to Liberia’s democracy.

Madam Bach admonished journalists to take keen importance of the training noting that the media plays a pivotal role in providing information and shaping the opinions of the citizenry.

At the end of the training, journalists will be divided into three groups along with mentors who will guide reporters in their reportage on the coverage of the elections.

The Center for Media Study and Peace Building (CEMSP), The Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL), and The Liberia Publishers Association of Liberia are institutions listed as mentors for the media practitioners.
