Dr. MICHAEL SLEWION’S NOMINATION WITHDRAWN AS NCHE BOSS…Executive Mansion Discloses

Monrovia-July 7, 2021-WTVNeWS: Following few weeks after his nomination, President George Manneh Weah has with immediate effect withdrawn the nomination of Dr. Michael Slewion.

On June 14, 2021, Dr. Slewion was appointed as the Director-General of the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE). Dr. Slewion previously served as the head of that institution during Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s Administration up until President Weah’s election.

The Liberian Leader indicated that he will re-appoint or re-nominate a new head of the entity subsequently.

Recently, scores of Educators took the airwaves condemning Pres. Weah’s appointment of Dr. Slewion, stating that the nominee is incapacitated and unfit for the job due to poor health as he may not have the luxury of time to supervise the Commission’s work.

The group of Educators vowed to alert the Liberian Leader to rethink his decision to ensure a young and energetic person heads the Commission to drive a fruitful learning atmosphere at several higher institutions of learning in Liberia.

Seems like the President paid heed to the call of the group of Educators and withdrew Dr. Slewion’s nomination as the Executive Mansion release did not say what led to the prompt withdrawal.
