Grand CapeMount County-September 5, 2020-WTVNEWS: Residents of the Mano River Congo in Kporkpa District, Grand CapeMount County woke up to the news early Saturday Morning September 5, 2020 of an alleged rape incident involving a 17 years old girl.
According to our Grand Capemount County Correspondent, the alleged Perpetrator, aged 37, is reportedly on the run.
Residents are still concerned as to why the Perpetrator will want to commit such an act owing to the widespread awareness and protest against Rape in Liberia.
Our reporter indicated that the survivor is currently at the Sinje hospital receiving proper medical treatment.
Recently Women, youths, and advocates took to the streets of Monrovia drawing the attention of the government to the growing wave of Rape and Sexual and Gender-based violence against women, girls, and boys.
The group in a petition called on President George Weah to make Rape a National Emergency as well as fix the Justice system to ensure survivors get Justice.
The Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection statistics indicate that 992 cases were reported between January to August 2020.
