PRES. WEAH SACKS LAA BOSS BISHOP KLAYEE

Harbel-July 6, 2021-WTVNEWS: Pres. George Manneh Weah has with immediate effect sacked the head of the Liberia Aviation Authority Bishop Allen KLAYEE.

Bishop KLAYEE is the head Pastor of the Jubilee Praise and Worship Center on the Old road.

An Executive Mansion release attributed the relieving of the Bishop from his post as administrative reasons. “Bishop Klayee was relieved of his post early Tuesday, July 6, 2021, for administrative reasons”, the EMansion release noted.

The release added that the Deputy Managing Director for Operations, Martin Hayes, will act as Managing Director of the LAA pending the appointment of the entityโ€™s new boss.

The sacking of Bishop KLAYEE comes after bath few weeks of the continuous outcry by some employees of the Airport over salary arrears.

Members of the Legislature grew interested in the employees’ outcry and invited the Bishop to further explain issues pertaining to the workers.

Bishop KLAYEE stated the CoVID 19 crippled the revenue generation of the airport thus putting a huge burden on the already small budget of the LAA.

“During the heat of the CoVID 19 in 2020, the airport did not generate the needed revenue to fill some financial gaps in the system as such it was left with the general administrative funds to buy fuel for the active running of the airport daily, which was indeed burdensome. Out of our squeezed budget and the return of normal activities, the airport has paid some months owed the employees and will continue to do it gradually till the debt is over”, Bishop KLAYEE stated during a presentation in open Plenary at the House of Representatives recently.
