“We Will Bring FeJAL to Your Doorsteps” President-elect Lisa Diasay Tells Supporters

Monrovia -December 15,2023: The President-elect of the Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL) Madam Lisa Tenneh Diasay has assured members to ensure robust Decentralization of the institution.

The FeJAL newly elected leader who spoke to supporters after the pronouncement of the Elections Committee outlined the significance of having a FeJAL for the people, with the people and by the people.

The Female Journalists Association of Liberia held its elections on the 15th of December 2023, at the institution’s headquarters Baptist Seminary Community.

The FeJAL EC announced Madam Lisa Diasay as the Winner of the Presidential Election. The EC indicated that Ms Diasay accumulated the total votes of 156 while her opponent Dennise Nimpson obtained 62 votes. A total of 222 valid votes was casted and 7 invalid votes.

The results read by Atty. Jelbeh Johnson who represented the Committee Chairperson Olive Stevenson officially declared Team Lisa victorious in the process.
“Results from the presidential and vice presidential candidates reads as follow: Vivian Nah Mulbah vice presidential candidate obtained 70 votes, Oretha Bundo She obtained 150 votes. For president, Dennise Nimpson accumulated 62 votes while Lisa Diasay accumulated 156 votes. As Election Committee chairperson, I hereby declare Lisa Diasay winner of the FeJAL election in the presidential category and Oretha Bundo in the Vice Presidential category,” the Committee said.

Following the announcement of the results, Lisa applauded supporters and female journalists that took part in the elections and promised a fruitful and inclusive leadership.

According to Lisa, her leadership will eventually implement the quest of the people for which she was voted overwhelmingly.

She outlined digitalization of opportunities, rebranding of FeJAL decentralization of activities amongst others.
“We will bring FeJAL to your doorstep. This is a FeJAL for you, we will not let you down. We will decentralize and digitalize FeJAL” Lisa said .

The President-elect also congratulated her opponent Madam Dennise Nimpson for her participation in the process . The FeJAL president also encourage the Dennise team to kindly join her in the process of making the Institution better.
“To our opponent, we say congratulations. We appreciate your efforts for participating in the process. We also call on you to bring your expertise onboard so all of us can work together and make FeJAL better,” Lisa stated.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary and Financial Secretary posts were won on white ballots by Patience Baye Koromah and Famatta Thomas.

FEJAL is the mother body for female Journalists across Liberia. The institution is intended to empower and advocate for the rights of women journalists in Liberia.
