Rep. Marvin Cole, others charged with Multiple Criminal Crimes; sent to Court for Trial

Gbarnga, Bong County, November 28, 2023: For reportedly ordering the massive flogging of the Officer-In-Charge, (OIC)of Gbonota Clinic, Alison Kollie, the Liberia National Police Bong County Detachment on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, charged and sent to Court, Bong County Electoral District #3 lawmaker Josiah Marvin Cole and eight (8) others.

It can be recalled on November 4, 2023, during the heat of the November 14 run-off election in Bong County, Rep. Cole and his supporters allegedly engaged into a fistfight with supporters of the Opposition Unity Party headed by then Campaign Chairlady of the UP Bong Chapter, Martha Morris.

The incident happened after the two parties’ supporters had gone to the Gbonata Clinic to meet Health workers in support of their separate parties. It was also established that UP supporters were the ones to have convened the meeting with the Gbonota Health Workers.

The reported fighting incident later resulted in the alleged brutalization of Alison Kollie, OIC of Gbonota Clinic following what UP supporters termed as his inquiry intervention into the situation as head of the Health Facility.

Following the incident, Madam Martha Morris filed a legal complaint to the Police in Bong County concerning the alleged brutality actions melted against Alison Kollie.

It was on Tuesday 28, November, 2023, the Bong County lawmaker and eight of his supporters who are linked to the incident was charged with the crimes Criminal Facilitation, Criminal Solicitation, Criminal Conspiracy and Physical Obstruction of Government’s Functions.

The Police Charge Sheet also revealed that the defendants action violated sections 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 and 12.1 of the new Penal law of Liberia.

Those charged along with the Bong County lawmaker include, C Tarwoe Walonfah, Hannah N. Kermue, Amanda Flomo, Alex M. Snowe, Willimena Willie. Others are, Justine Bedell, Jr., Togbah Matthew and Junior Sackie.

At the same time, the Police Charge Sheet has revealed that a security office assigned to Hon. Cole was charged with Aggrevated and Simple Assaults, Rioting, Physical Obstruction of Government Function, Menacing, Theft of Property, Criminal Conspiracy and Disorderly conduct.

The police Charge Sheet also revealed that the charges levied against the defendants are in conduit with sections 14.20, 14.21, 17.1, 12.1, 15.51, 14.25, 10.4 &; 17.3 of the new penal law of Liberia.

The defendants will be present or represented by their legal team at the Ninth (9th) Judicial Circuit Court in Gbarnga when the case shall have been scheduled.
