PACA Awards Rep. Grant as ‘2023 Lawmaker of Peace and Reconciliation’

Monrovia-Feburay 15,2023: The Patriotic Consciousness Association of Liberia (PACA), a pro democracy group on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 honored Grand Gedeh County District 3 Representative Alex Chersia Grant as ‘Distinct Peace and Reconciliation Lawmaker of the Year 2023’.

Patriotic Consciousness Association of Liberia is a pro-democracy activism organization established in 1998 to ensure check and balances within the Liberian Society. Since it’s establishment, PACA usually certificates politicians and patriotic personalities in Liberia.

Presenting the awards, the National Executive Chairman of PACA, Mr. E Frederick Baye noted the award to the lawmaker is based on continuous efforts in pursuing peace amongst the people of Nimba and Grand Gedeh Counties; adding, that Rep. Grant cordial relationship built with Nimbaians during and after the Liberian civil conflict can not be overlooked.

” We all know the history of the civil conflict between the people of Nimba and Grand Gedeh but hon. Grant through all these times have been peaceful and he went as far building cordial relationship with the Nimbaians by Marrying our daughter. He has never caused harm or make decisions that will bring conflict between Nimba and Grand Gedeh, before coming for this ceremony we informed officials of Nimba and they gladly give us the go ahead to offer this honor to you hon. Grant. By the power in me vested by PACA and others, I hereby give you this award of ‘Distinct Lawmaker of Peace and Reconciliation for the year 2023’, Chairman Baye said.

Rep. Grant district (electoral district 3, is the first from the side of Nimba towards grand Gedeh and it has shared bordering towns and villages between the two counties.

Receiving the award, Rep. Grant appreciated PACA for the recognition and promised to do more, stating that peace has been part of his life since his childhood. . “I want to say thank you to PACA for recognizing me, my contribution to the Liberian people. For peace, it’s something I have had all through my life. I started maintaining peace since my childhood which I still continue to do. It’s because of peace I went Nimba and made them my inlaws when everyone was fighting against each other”, Hon. Grant asserted.

He however, cautioned Liberians to preserve the peace that Liberia currently enjoys because the growth and development of any nation rely on peace and stability. “There is nothing a country can achieve without peace, because any country development heavily rely on peace and stability. Let us continue to maintain the peace we have. Piece is important, peace is great and we should all preserve Libera’s peace,” he said

Alex C. Grant is the chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Legislative Caucaus. He was firstly elected in 2011 as Representative of electoral District #3 in Grand Gedeh and currently serves his 2nd terms as Representative of the district.
