Man, 33, Sentenced to 80yrs in Prison for First-degree Murder

SANNIQUELLIE CITY, NIMBA COUNTY: Resident Circuit Judge of the 8th Judicial Circuit Court, Roland F. Dahn today sentenced
a 33-year old-man has to 80 years for killing his girlfriend.

On December 3, 2022, convict Ernest Gbatoe chopped his girlfriend Yei Gargbay with a cutlass; thereby chopping her head and other body parts in pieces; something that resulted to her Death.

Ernest accused his girlfriend of extra love affair with another man for which she reportedly refused his sexual advances at night.

The two, Ernest and Yei were residents of the New Barrack Community in Sanniqiillie, Nimba County.

While sentencing the convict, Ernest Gbatoe, Judge Dahn ruled that the 33-year-old committed a first-degree murder which carries a maximum penalty of death upon conviction.

Judge Dahn added that convict Ernest is a young and energetic enough to work but he instead decided to engage himself in an unlawful act to kill his girlfriend.

Prior to his sentence, Convict Ernest Gbatoe remorsefully pleaded guilty to the offense doing trial.
