HEALTH MINISTER DISCLOSES OXYGEN THERAPY TRAINING

Monrovia- September 17, 2021-WTVNEWS: As Liberia gradually subdue the Covid-19 pandemic, Health Minister Dr Wilhelmina Jallah has pronounced the commencement of training for individuals in various counties on oxygen therapy, as the need for oxygen during the country’s last attack was cardinal.

Addressing the Ministry of information regular Thursday press briefing, Dr Jallah provided that the Ministry through every necessary means is vigorously ensuring that individuals get educated on the usage of oxygen, as Government anticipate more oxygens supply in having a stronger fight against the covid-19 pandemic.

Oxygen therapy is a treatment that delivers oxygen gas for you to breathe. You can receive oxygen therapy from tubes resting in your nose, a face mask, or a tube placed in your trachea, or windpipe. This treatment increases the amount of oxygen your lungs receive and deliver to your blood.

Health report also shows that a small proportion of Covid-19 patients need oxygen support, when shortness of breath progresses to a more acute condition. Most patients with Covid-19 have a respiratory tract infection, and in the most severe cases their symptoms can include shortness of breath. In a small proportion of such cases.

Giving record on the current status of the civid-19 pandemic in the country, Dr Jallah provided that there are presently five new confirmed cases in Liberia, four of which came from refugees during testing process at the border, while one was reported from Montserrado County.

She further provided that there are currently 35 active cases around the country, no new death, and confirmed that Liberia is now in the stage of preparedness though the cases are low.

Dr Jallah however applauded the African Union, African CDC and other supporting partners that join Liberia in the fight against covid-19, and further urged the public to see a need in getting vaccinated as well as to encourage others to follow suit, and avoid being negative.

However, it has also been confirmed that only 5 of the 15 counties that are still responding to covid-19, these of which includes Mary Land, Nimba, River Gee, Grand Gedeh, and Montserrado counties.
Liberia’s total confirmed cases status is counted at 5.776 since the beginning of the covid-19, and a total of 5. 458 recoveries.

At the moment, health authorities have pronounced that the covid-19 vaccination process is available in seven health districts in Montserrado.

It has also been made known that the total number of confirmed civid-19 cases globally is about 225 million-plus, while the total number of death globally is at 4, 6,36000,153, and over five million people have been vaccinated.

At the same time, the Minister disclosed that global health authorities have confirmed the end of the days of mabrok in Guinea, as such; the country is absolutely free from the virus.
