Cuttington University to Confer Degrees on 765 Students in Different Disciplines; As Benedict Sonie Kanu, to serve as Keynote Speaker

SUAKOKO-June 9, 2024: The Administration of Cuttington University in Suakoko, Bong County, is expected to Confer different Degrees on Seven-Hundred-Sixty-Five (765) students in diverse areas of professional studies on June 15, 2024.

Speaking to a team of reporters on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Institution’s main campus in Suakoko District, Mr. Advertus Orea Wright, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Cuttington University, disclosed that seventy-two (72) students will be graduating from the University Junior College in Kakata, Margibi County, while three hundred twenty-five (325) students from the undergraduate Programs in Suakoko.

Additionally, Mr. Wright added that three hundred twenty (320) students will also be walking out of the walls of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies in Monrovia, while forty-eight (48) students will be obtaining Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDF) and Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation (PGDME).

The Cuttington University Vice President for Institutional Advancement also told reporters that the commencement speaker for this year’s graduation ceremony is Mr. Benedict Sonie Kanu, Country Manager for African Development Bank, Liberia Limited.

The CU Institutional Advancement Vice President noted that these students who will be conferred degrees by Cuttington University in distinct academic disciplines have been academically examined and have satisfactorily gone through the ranks and files of the Universityโ€™s academic curricular activities in line with the best international academic standards and practices.

The ceremony, according to Mr. Wright, is expected to be held on the Institution’s main campus in Suakoko District and will mark Cuttington University’s 62nd commencement convocation. The ceremony will however be graced by high-profile government officials, parents, and guidance including students and alumni from across Liberia.

Mr. Orea Wright further that Cuttington University being the oldest private university in Suacoco, Liberia, the University is regarded for its exemplary academic excellence among top universities in sub-Saharan Africa.

Founded in 1889 as Cuttington College by the Episcopal Church of the United States (ECUSA), the institution is the oldest private, coeducational, four-year, degree-granting institution in sub-Saharan Africa.
