WE4SELF Board Chairperson Urges Increased Support for Liberian Women in Peace Building, Efforts at CSW68 High-Level Meeting

New York- March 21,2024: Madam Grace Scotland-Briamah, the Board Chairperson of Women Empowerment for Self-Employment (WE4SELF) has stress the need for more support to women engage in peace building processes in Liberia.

Addressing a United Nations Peace Building Commission’s high-level meeting on Tuesday 19th March, Madam Briamah emphasized the critical need for sustainable support to peace-building institutions in Liberia, particularly highlighting the indispensable role of UN Women and women peace builders in fostering lasting peace and development.

The Board Chair who spoke on behalf of Liberian civil society organizations (CSOs) and women-led NGOs, underscored the importance of increased donor’s assistance in empowering these vital stakeholders.
Adding, that by bolstering women-led NGOs, CSOs, and other peace actors, Liberia can achieve sustainable peace and empower its women, thereby fostering inclusive growth and development.

The event which is part of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) brought together representatives of member states, including the United States, Brazil, Canada, Sudan, and others. It demonstrates the international community’s commitment to advancing peace and gender equality.
