“Sex Is Not A Medium of Exchange” Former VP Taylor Cautions Ladies at National Women Conference

Paynesville-May 31,2024: Former Vice President of Liberia Madam Jewel Howard Taylor is urging young women to refuse sex as a medium of exchange in their life journey.

Guest speaking at the National Women Leadership and Entrepreneurship Conference (NWLEC) recently, Liberia’s first female Vice President said many girls of today have left proper discipline of knowledge and handwork to using sex as a medium of exchange for prosperity and development.

During the conference, madam Jewel Howard Taylor urged women to be more productive in their career journey. She believes that many young girls today are falling off path through bribery.

“Today Sex is a value of exchange, and they are now doing it. We must teach our daughters that sex is not a medium of exchange” madam Taylor said.

She however admonished parents to make their homes free of violence; stressing that most of the violence affecting women and girls derive from the homes.

“If each of us can end the violence against ourselves first, then our homes will be saver, our community will be saver and so forth”.

Giving overview of the program, Maurene D. Cooper Executive Directress of Women Support Women Initiative Africa stated that conference aimed to accelerate the personal and professional development of Women; to providing guidance, capacity building of Women, and diversification of Women Volunteers and introduction of value addition of quality output of Women led activities.

She added that it is also meant to enhance women Political actor’s knowledge on the importance of Women participation at the highest level of decision making.

“With the overall goal to buttress the efforts in promoting Women Empowerment, Education, Participation in Political Leadership and reducing insecurity of Women through Mentorship and Empowerment, Telling the success stories of Successful women to encourage other women to do the same” Maurene said.

Also, making remarks at the ceremony , Cllr. Charlyne Brumskine and former Vice Presidential Candidate on the Alternative National Congress ticket in the 2023 elections encouraged young women to take bold steps to empowering themselves.

According to Cllr. Brumskine, the world needs brave women; and as such, the ladies should double up their game and stop following the crowd.
“Stop following the crowd. Be different, do better and stop letting men used you”.

The program was graced by local and national leaders. Participants were certificated during the program. They applauded the organizers for the event.

The National Women Leadership Conference was organized and launched in 2022. The just ended series was intended to raise funds for the development and sustainability of the program. The event was supported by International partners to include the UN Women and others.
