Senator Kpehe Presents 15 Taxicabs to Drivers Union, Breaks Ground for Ambulance Hub Construction in Gbarnga

August 12, 2024-GBARNGA: As a means of empowering Commercial Drivers in Bong and living up to Campaign Promises, Bong County Senator Johnny Kpehe Sr., has presented 15 pieces of Fairly-used Taxicabs to the United Congress Drivers Union of Liberia.

The presentation of the vehicles, according to Senator Kpehe, is intended to empower commercial drivers of the union and also ease the transportation constraints faced by commuters, especially those routing on the Gbarnga to Monrovia highways.

The Bong County Senator further emphasized that the vehicles will be maintained by the Union’s leadership, adding that every driver is only responsible for paying the purchase cost of the vehicle to gain ownership.

Senator Kpehe also added that monies generated from the first batch of drivers will be used to purchase additional 15 pieces of taxicabs for another fifteen drivers of the union. He puts the cost of the vehicles at sixty-five thousand United States Dollars (US$65,000).

The Bong County Senator encouraged the drivers to take care of the vehicles to empower their colleagues as to be included in the second batch of his gesture.

The Union’s President, Youjah Joined, in acceptance and response to the Senator’s gesture, appreciated the Bong County lawmaker for empowering the union with a promise to maintain the vehicles.

In a related development, Senator Kpehe has also broken grounds for the construction of an Ambulance Hub in Gbarnga, Bong County. The construction of the hub is in fulfillment of a promise made to Bongese during the campaign periods of the 2023 elections.

The Bong County Senator said the hub will host three ambulances and will be managed by the Bong County Health Team. Senator Kpehe made it clear that the fueling and payment of management at the hub will be undertaken by his office for two years or more and later turned over to the health team for onward management.

The Senator puts the cost of the project at one hundred thousand United States Dollars (US$100,000) and is expected to be completed by January of next year.

Remarking on behalf of the County’s Health Team, Mr. Dakemue Kollie, applauded Senator Kpehe for undertaking such an initiative in the county. He further assured the senator of the health team full support to the construction of the Ambulance Hub and maintenance upon completion. The initiative is being greeted with excitement from citizens of the county.
