Monrovia-Liberia: The Association of Liberia School Principals has with immediate effect given a six-day ultimatum to the Ministry of Education and the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to make public results for this year’s national exams.

In a press statement issued Thursday December 9,2021, the Association noted that the delay in the releasing the results has led to cancellation of graduation which continues to hamper students accessing higher education locally and internationally.

The statement threatened the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Liberia and Ministry Of Education (MOE) that if the results are not released as of Wednesday December 15,2021, the Association will authorize its members to proceed with graduation activities.

The Ministry of Education on September 30,2021, on its official Facebook page cautioned all schools in the country to await WASSCE results before the conduct of any ceremony by schools, which WEAC has not provided any results since the climaxed of the national exams on 30th September.

It continues that schools carrying on graduation after the fixed deadline of the ultimatum are advised to withhold the transcripts of students till their WASSCE results are released and that they met the passing mark of WAEC.

However, responding to the ultimatum, the Head of WAEC National Office Dr. Dale G. Gbotoe said, WAEC is rounding up activities leading to the successful release of results.

He mentioned that they don’t want to release results in pieces but to have the four different exams results public at once.
Dr. Gbotoe attributed the delay of results to some challenges faced by the office which include: the lost of five WAEC staff and a police officer that lost their lives while enroute to the Southeastern counties aboard the Niki Invanka to administer the WAEC examination to students in that part of the country; the four different exams administered which include: the 3rd graders assessment test, the 6th and 9th graders national exams and the 12th graders WASSCE exams; and lack of getting the actual number of examiners to mark the exams papers due to the conflict of schedule in reopening of Schools, among others.

Meanwhile, Dale Gbotoe has assured the public that exams results will be make public between now and 17th December 2021.
