National Young Women Political Council of Liberia Concludes one day Young Women Leaders Conference

Monrovia -February 22,2024: A women led Civil Society Organization, the National Young Women Political Council of Liberia on 21st February concluded a day long young women conference aimed at inspiring and redefining their journeys.

The conference which was held under the theme: “We Break Barriers” also focused on bringing women together to stand on the brink of Greatness ready to embark on a journey that will redefine the future.

During the conference, Young Women Leaders were trained on various topics, to include: Women’s health care and Rights, Women political participation, and Entrepreneurship amongst others.

Giving overview of the Conference, National Young Women’s Political Council of Liberia President Laura T. Korvah noted “the conference is not just a mere Conference but a beacon of hope, a platform for empowerment, and a testament to the potential of women’s Leadership”

Speaking at the Conference on Women Healthcare and Rights the Founder of Mavee Maternal Empowerment initiative ( MAMEL Liberia ) Madam Yassah N Lavelah encouraged young women to talk about issues affecting their health and join in advocating for well trained health staffs in other to build a better health system for women and girls health and rights.

“This is our Moment and this is our time we need and we must have the Change we want in promoting WOMEN’s health rights and care , we should also add Men to every Training so we can teach them the important of Health as well”, she added.

At the same time, the Executive Director of Sister Aid Liberia and a panelist at the event Madam Miatta G. Darwolor, speaking on the importance of women political participation urged the Government of Liberia to ensure more women are appointed in public offices.
“We have been used by Men to run Campaign and run lots of women Grouping at the end of the day we end up being followers always. Why can’t women be Ministers? Why always deputy or Assistant Minister?
This has to stop! and we all need to come together in making show we make every other woman business our business. Let’s support each other Women we are better Leaders we must Break the Barriers ” She said .

Meanwhile, the Founder of Creative Women initiative school of Culinary Arts Madam Juah Doeyou also encouraged young women to get involved in Entrepreneurship in other to be independent and self-sufficient.

She spoke as a panelist on the essence of women Enterpreneurship.

At the end of the Conference, the participants mainly young women leaders received certificates of participation. The ceremony was hugely graced with hundreds of young women, guests and other international partners.

The National Young Women’s Political Council of Liberia is an organization in partnership with Naymote to increase Women’s Political participation and empower young women to become great Leaders.
