Pleebo-Maryland County-June 8, 2023: The lifeless body of a 51 year-old man identified as Philip Wion has been discovered in the Zone-Two Community in Pleebo, Maryland County.

Witnesses told reporters that the deceased was discovered on Wednesday, lying under a makeshift tent in the morning hours, prompting the Zone leadership to invite the Liberia National Police (LNP) and the Maryland County Health Team for inspection and medical examination.

Though it is not yet established whether or not the deceased had some medical complications, however, a close family source admitted that Wion left his house on Tuesday evening for the Pleebo General Market, where he served as a security guard at a local shop.

The deceased, according to the source, did not return home until the discovery of his lifeless body.
The incident sparked mixed reactions among residents of Pleebo, since Maryland County has a longstanding history of ritualistic killings.

Others described Wionโ€™s death as regrettable and scaring; calling for an in depth investigation. However, local authorities have assured residents of their cooperation with the LNP.

Though Maryland County is known for ritualistic killings, there has been no report of body parts extraction from the deceased. Wionโ€™s death brings to two the number of bodies found in separate locations in the same zone in less than two months.

It can be recalled that the corpse of Jimmy Doe, 25, was discovered in the street in April at the Liberia Christian Assembly junction near the Pleebo General Market.

Meanwhile, a 15-man coroner jury comprising representatives of Zone-Two County Health Team has reported no foul play, police said investigation into the death continues.
