Liberian Kids Capture Several Awards in Thailand

Thailand: Raliatu Diamond Turay and Carislyn H. Robertson have now hit the world stage with their creative pageantry arts, cultural talents, and customs; raising Liberia’s flag as they snatched several awards catching the eyes of millions.

Their latest international performances were in Thailand, at the Teen Star International Awards and Thailand People’s Choice Award which brought together kids from several countries worldwide.

Interestingly, Ms. Carislyn H. Robertson and Raliatu Diamond Turay were the only Africans at the historical contest which was made possible by Determined Angels Culture and Tourism International (DACTI).

At the highly contested teen events with their peers, the kids’ stunning outfits, talents, and cultural arts convinced judges of their competence to capture several awards due to their extraordinary performances.

Ms. Raliatu Diamond Turay was awarded the Thailand People’s Choice Award, Best Talent, Best catwalk, Overall 5th runner up in the contest.

Also, Ms. Carislyn H Robertson, won “The Best Friendship Award, 1st runner-up for the best talent, Overall 5th runner-up Teen Star International Award.

Speaking on her experience Ms. Richardson, 11 years said, “ I feel great about representing my homeland in another country. “The first time I went there I thought I could not win, but I said to myself, I will win for my country and for my parents. Never feel intimidated by your skin color”. She told journalists at the Roberts International Airport upon arrival in the country.

At the same time, Ms. Raliatu Diamond Turay, said, “As a teenager, as a girl, I feel very proud to represent my country internationally. Liberian youths, I want to say, go follow your heart, don’t feel intimidated, everyone has their own talent”.

The kids returned to Liberia over the weekend and were welcomed at the Roberts International Airport by scores of family members, friends, supporters, and representatives of the Liberia government.
Support for the kids were made possible by the office of the President, House Speaker, Family members, and other organizations in Liberia that support Arts, Culture, and Tourism, the organizers said.

The kids were spotted and taken to Thailand by Mrs. Patricia Davies Hemelberg, who is a Librarian and CEO of Determined Angels Culture and Tourism International (DACTI), founded on August 24, 2009.

Mrs. Hemelberg said the organization’s vision is to exhibit an array of African teens who are well-cultured and equipped with African moral values, intelligence, and beauty with rich knowledge of their history and to flourish in this 21st-century world.

Stressing on her organization’s mission, she noted that they are committed to causing a mind-shift in the African youth, primarily teens, from the engagement of social vices for survival and the feeling of victimization to the deploying of indispensable values that accumulate first to self-development then that of their respective communities.

Meanwhile, Determined Angels Culture and Tourism International (DACTI) boss Mrs. Patricia Hemelberg another batch Liberians will shortly leave the country to participate in the ‘Best Model of the Universe’ in Barcelona, Spain on August 30, 2024 and is looking out for more support.
