GRAND GEDEH COUNTY GETS NEW COUNTY HEALTH OFFICER

The Government of Liberia through Health Authorities has named Dr. Tebo Gbotoe as the new Health Officer for Grand Gedeh County.

Prior to the appointment of the New Health Officer, Dr. Augustine Fannieh served as County health Officer of Grand Gedeh for a little over two years. He has been transferred to Margibi as the head of the Margibi County Health system.

On April 2, 2019, Dr. Augustine Fannieh took over from his predecessor Dr. Shaine Karlay who left due to public pressure. He has also turned over to Dr. Tebo Gbotoe.

Before taking over the health system of Grand Gedeh as Chief of County Health Officer, Dr. Tebo Gbotoe served as chief medical officer of the referral Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital and the County health team.
In a brief farewell ceremony held at the Zwedru City Hall on July 29, 2021, Dr. Fannieh named the renovation of the County Health team buildings, cleaning up of payrolls, training of additional Midwives and Physician Assistants, and timely supplies of medicine some of the several achievements made in the county health sector since he took over in 2019 April.

He also mentioned the Construction of the Youth Friendly Center, cordial working relationship among staff and nurses, and the commencement of 80-bed rooms of the proposed Samuel Kanyan Doe hospital outside Zwedru respectively.

Dr. Fannieh additionally said because of the good system he had introduced, the Grand Gedeh County Health team has won best performing County health team, a year ago.
“I have no control over my reassignment, but I am confident of the system that was built over the years will be managed by those taking over”. Dr. Fannieh concluded.

For his part, the newly assigned County health Officer for Grand Gedeh, Dr. Tebo Gbotoe, promised to uphold the good works of his predecessor and the people of Grand Gedeh County.

He said he will work in unity with members of the team to achieve more success.

Meanwhile, citizens who spoke at the turning-over ceremony praised Dr. Fannieh for saving the county from recording a high number of cases of Covid-19 in the first and second resurgence.
They promised that he will forever be remembered in the health system of the county.

The citizens also called on the newly appointed CHO to work in the interest of the people of Grand Gedeh.
