Gender Equality Activist Marlyn Mellish Eyes GBUSUVA Presidency

Liberia: One of Liberia’s dedicated financial expert, Marlyn Mellish Tugbah is currently vying for the presidency of the Grand Bassa University Students Union Veterans Association (GBUSUVA).

The Association’s elections is expected to take place Saturday, March 25th 2023 in the port city of Buchanan Grand Bassa County.
The leadership term covers a 2yr period. GBUSUVA consists of sons and daughters of grand Bassa county who are alumni of different institutions of higher education.

Team Marlyn asserted that a new day has come to the GBUSUVA leadership based on the candidature of Veteran Marlyn Mellish Tugbah. They indicated that Team Marlyn is answering the true call to leadership which will ensure the institution’s contribution to the development of the Grand Bassa County. “Fellow Colleagues, we have a mission as a generation and the successful implementation of that mission rest on the shoulders of all of us”.

Mrs. Mellish-Tugbah pillared her candidacy for the presidency of GBUSUVA on six (6) pillars including the Promotion of equal gender participation in decision making; Building a Professional based institution; Sound Policies for the overall development of Grand Bassa County; Advocating for the rights of the people of Grand Bassa County in a positive way; Corruption Free of GBUSUVA; and Grand Bassa County Education Endowment Fund.

Elections thus ensuring a transparent leadership.

She is the current treasurer of GBUSUVA and has served in other key areas including: Vice President GBUSU Cuttington chapter 2009: GBUSU Chairperson on elections, 2011; Treasurer GBUSU University of Liberia, 2012 and 2022 Secretary for the second General Assembly in Grand Bassa, Buchanan.

Marlyn is the Daughter of Mr. Abraham B. Mellish, From Zondo Grand Bassa county.

She holds a Bachelor degree in Accounting from the university of Liberia and several Certificates in accounting software Quickbooks ,Logistics transportation and supply chain management internal Audit and control from Access training institute and Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA).

Marlyn currently works for a human and women rights organization, Medica Liberia as Finance Assistant and has previously worked for several institutions including Community Youth Network program (CYNP), Buchanan city, Grand Bassa County among others.
