Electricity Boost for Bong County As LEC-JEP Sign Energy Pact

Liberia- March 12, 2023: Through a Public Private Partnership (PPP), the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) recently signed an agreement to allow Jungle Energy Power (JEP) to boost electricity supply to residents of central Liberia, Bong County. The agreement enables JEP to take over LEC Bong County power grid to provide energy to central Liberia. JEP is currently providing power to Nimba County and parts adjacent.

The agreement gives Jungle Energy Power the supremacy to manage electricity being supplied from neighboring Ivory Coast in the Central region of Liberia (Bong County).

Remarking at the official signing ceremony over the weekend (March 9, 2023) in Gbarnga on Friday, Acting Chief Executive Officer of LEC, Mr. Monie Captan described the signing of the agreement as a giant step geared towards supplying effective electricity and providing managerial support in Bong.

Captan further added that the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is also geared to assist ongoing efforts to supply effective electricity to Liberians.

According to the LEC Acting CEO, Liberia currently owed Ivory Coast ten million United States dollars for electricity supply; a debt according to him, has not been paid.

Meanwhile, Mr Capatan has at the same time frowned at individuals involved in power theft; adding that it undermines the viability of the nationโ€™s power sector. He is urging those involved in such acts to disengage with immediate effect if Liberia’s Electricity sector is to improve.

For his part, The Chief Executive officer of Jungle Energy Power, Mr Floyd Tomah Sr praised the management of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) for affording his company, JEP, the opportunity to manage its electricity facilities in Nimba and Bong Counties.

Mr. Tomah added that his company has connected Three Thousand households and is looking forward to connecting additional eight thousand by the end of this 2023.

The signing ceremony was graced by several dignitaries including the Superintendent of Bong County, Madam Esther Walker, an Official of USAID John Pasch, the Chairman of the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission, Dr Lawrence Sekajipo among others.

Jungle Enerngy Power is owned and operated by the management of Jungle Water Group of Investment, a Liberian owned company managed and operated by popular Nimba County Businessman, Floyd Saye Tomah Sr.
