Africa Women Summit-Liberia Chapter Installs Core of Officers

Monrovia-: The Africa Women Summit-Liberia Chapter has officially inducted into office its core of officials to steer the affairs of the organization in the country. Those installed were: Kebbeh Maryeaheh Kortue President, Linda Karim Vice President, Miatta Gray Project Director, Raphealyn C.N Bomosy-Forkpa Account Manager and Humpheretta Reid Secretary General.
Others are: Rachel Doemah Assistant Secretary, Cllr. Abla Gadegbeku-Williams

The occasion, which was held at Corina Hotel during the weekend brought together activists, human rights defenders, local and national leaders amongst others.
The program consisted of launching, installation and fundraising activities.

Giving overview of the platform, madam Leeneh Kaizai-Martins said the AWS was created to empower women in Africa. Stating, it is also meant to recognize the significant potential of women for social change, economic and political transformation.

“Africa Women Summit was born out of a deep desire to uplift and empower women in Africa, recognizing their immense potential as catalysts for social, economic, and political transformation”

She added, “these remarkable destinations have served as backdrops to our dynamic gatherings, where women from all walks of life convene to inspire and be inspired. The summit has witnessed the presence of over 2,000 women from 40 African countries, establishing it as a truly pan-African movement for change”

However, Madam MacDella Cooper, Political Advisor to President Joseph Boakai delivered keynote address on behalf of the First Lady of the Republic of Liberia Kartumu Boakai.
In her address, Madam Cooper urged Liberian women to use the platform wisely. She acknowledged the contributions Africa Women Summit has made to other countries and thinks it is about time Liberians benefit from such opportunity.
The Political Advisor then pledged Madam Boakai’s support to the process.

Meanwhile, Madam Kebbeh Maryeaheh Kortue President of the Africa Women Summit-Liberia Chapter outlined five pillars that the Institution is posed to work on in the coming years. They include: Women Empowerment through the provision of training, Advocacy and Policy Influence, Networking, Community Engagement and Social Responsibility.

The AWS leader called on Liberians to join hands with the team in creating a vibrant space for all women.
“As we launch this Liberia Chapter, I call on each one of us to join us in this mission. Let us work together to create an environment where every African woman has the opportunity to thrive. Let us support and uplift each other, recognising that our strength lies in our unity” she said.

The Africa Women Summit (AWS) was birthed in Nigeria by a selfless leader called Kalada Meshack-Hart, commonly referred to as Amb. Belema. He created this space for women to dialogue, exchange positive ideas, and build vibrant connections to enable them find long-lasting solutions to issues that are affecting women in Africa.
