AFL Soldiers Get New Housing Units…As Pres. Weah Pledges more Support

Liberia-June 14, 2023: The Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) today (Wednesday June 14, 2023) cut ribbons to a modern state-of-the-art housing facility to soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL).

The dedication program was held at the Beyan Kesselee barracks in Margibi County.

According to the Liberian leader, the completion and dedication of the building is in fulfilment of his commitment to ensure that members of the Liberian army have good housing in line with international standards.

President Weah said the constructed and rehabilitated facilities will enable the AFL discharge their duties diligently and effectively in live up to their tasks.

He furthered that before the construction and rehabilitation of the housing units, men and women of the AFL were heavily challenged to have better area for themselves and their families to live.

“These buildings will not only enhance the living conditions of our soldiers but also create an environment that raises morale and foster a sense of pride within the armed forces. As we cut the ribbon today, let us remember that this dedication ceremony represents more than just physical structures”, he added.

The Liberian Chief Executive noted that the AFL is key to maintaining and protecting Liberia’s peace, therefore they should have a better living standards and welfare.

President Weah at the same time reaffirmed his commitment to the brave women and men of the AFL to ensure that they enjoy the reward of their services to the country.
“On that occasion, I pledged to prioritize the well-being of our gallant soldiers and their families. I promised to provide the necessary resources to enhance their living conditions and ensure their welfare, despite budgetary constraints and competing demands,” the President recalled. “Today, I am honored to stand before you, witnessing the fulfillment of that promise. It is a demonstration of our gratitude for their unwavering service and a reaffirmation that we will continue to support them in every way possible”.

He promised that similar act will be extended to other military bases which includes: the Coast Guard Base, Camp Ware, based in Lofa, Gbarnga, and Buchanan.

He also rallied the support of Liberians and international partners to buttresses government’s effort in ensuring that the AFL is one of the best in Africa. “We owe them the highest level of care and support, not just for their own sake, but also for the stability and prosperity of our great nation,” he stressed.

For their part, the Armed Forces of Liberia lauded the government of Liberia for its continuous support to the military. However, the AFL further promised to used the facilities for the intended purpose. In closing, the Liberian army also assured the Liberian people of their commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the country ahead of the October 10 polls.
